Society goes green

The Malvern Showground home of the Three Counties Agricultural Society – has achieved official approval for its environmental management scheme.

Months of planning and the gradual implementation of effective environmental practices at the 90 acre site on Blackmore Park Road, have finally paid off, and the Society has achieved its ISO 14001 accreditation.

ISO 14001 is an internationally accepted standard which sets out how organizations can put in place an effective Environmental Management system, which maintains profitability but reduces the impact on precious resources.

The Showground has been working towards ISO status for some time, and after developing proper systems of its own, set about tasks such as legislation compliance, emissions reduction, waste management and the preservation of natural resources wherever possible.

By raising levels of environmental awareness in its own workforce and sharing that awareness with customers, suppliers and visitors, it has been improving its total performance.

As part of its commitment to operate sustainably, it is also reducing the amount of waste going to landfill.

Said Malvern Showground Chief Executive, Nick Vincent: Considering our carbon footprint and implementing sustainable business operations is vital in this day and age, and we want to encourage all those who visit the Shows, or exhibit at the Showground to follow suit.

I am delighted that our efforts over the past year have been rewarded with the ISO 14001 accreditation which recognizes our achievements to date, and our future commitment to maintain sound practice.
