College Principle’s new role on National Improvement Body
The Principal of a Shropshire College has been elected to the national Council of the Learning and Skills Improvement Service. The organisation (known as LSIS) is the sector-led improvement body for further education and skills. It is overseen by a Council of 30 members representing stakeholders from across the sector.
Andrew Tyley, Principal and Chief Executive of Walford and North Shropshire College, has been elected to represent Landex, the association of land-based colleges aspiring to excellence. He is one of only two Council members from the West Midlands and will be attending his first meeting in London on 6 October 2011.
Andrew was previously a Director of the Adult Learning Inspectorate and welcomes this opportunity to represent land-based colleges and promote the quality improvement initiatives of LSIS.
LSIS Council members are elected nationwide by sector membership bodies to ensure the Council reflects the richness and diversity of the further education, learning and skills communities.
The Council has an advisory, consultative and representative role. It is the principal channel of communication between LSIS and the sector, providing a forum to exchange ideas, debate key challenges facing providers, and feed messages into the LSIS Board.
