DairyCo welcomes three new board members
The Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) has announced the appointment of three new members to the DairyCo board.
Dairy farmers Janette Prince, David Cotton and Tim Gue will join Chairman Tim Bennett and the eight existing board members to develop strategies that determine the direction of the AHDB’s milk division and provide a clear vision for all DairyCo activities that benefit GB dairy farmers.
Mr Bennett said: “I’m pleased to welcome Janette, David and Tim to the DairyCo board. I’m sure that they will provide a valuable contribution to the work that we do and I, along with the existing members of the board, look forward to working with them.”
Janette Prince farms in partnership with her husband, Chris, and family. They have an organic dairy herd of just under 90 Holstein Friesian cows and followers on 156 acres in Staffordshire. Janette is vice chairman of the Uttoxeter and District NFU, she is currently also involved with the Staffordshire Federation of Young Farmers next to that Janette is also a YFC County Vice President.
Former RABDF chairman David Cotton farms 240 hectares in a family partnership in mid Somerset with a herd of 180 pedigree Holstein Friesian cows plus followers. David’s Bridge Farm is the home of Kingshay and hosts a number of on-going trials. David is also a council member for Arla Milk Link, an Associate of the Royal Agricultural Societies, director of Kingshill Farming Company, and chairman of the Dairy Pro industry group.
Tim Gue and his wife Marion farm on 1450 acres with 400 cows, 300 North Country Mules and 800 acres of arable cropping in Steyning, West Sussex. Tim is a past chairman of The West Grinstead Ploughing and Show Society and a former chairman of the Maize Growers Association. He has also served two terms (eight years) on the Holstein UK Board as a non-executive director for research and development. Tim has had a significant role in the development of modern genetic evaluations for UK dairy cows.
