NIG appoints new Head of Agricultural Business

Commercial Insurer NIG has appointed Andy Brock as its new Head of Agricultural Business.

Agricultural business accounts for a large percentage of NIGs GWP and Andys key responsibilities will be to maximise the distribution channels for NIGs agricultural business which include FarmWeb, broker relationships and the Royal Bank of Scotland specialist agricultural business division.

Driving NIGs growth in the agricultural sector Andy will focus on continued development of its agricultural centre of underwriting excellence in Gloucester, specialist underwriting and product diversification, such as the recent launch of its renewable energy products.

The contract between FarmWeb and NIG was recently renewed ensuring NIG will continue to underwrite FarmWeb business for a further five years. The underwriting centre in Gloucester has recently been restructured to mirror NIGs other regional underwriting centres and Andy will work closely with FarmWeb CEO Elaine Simons.

Andy Brock was previously Commercial Director at London General Insurance and has previously held a senior position with Cardiff Pinnacle. He was responsible for Corporate Partnership acquisition, development and retention for affinity insurance programmes and has been responsible for overseeing relationship management and marketing strategies through partnerships with major banks, retailers, mortgage intermediaries and automotive manufacturers in the UK and Ireland.

FarmWeb was formed in 1996 and only deals with specialist agricultural brokers. Working with NIG they have recently strengthened the team bringing in more skilled underwriters, allowing them to give brokers an excellent service with quick access to knowledgeable decision makers. FarmWeb has more than 50 staff at its Gloucester base and is continuing to recruit talented team members.
