New Hollands new Harvesting Marketing Specialist comes to the job with plenty of experience in the field literally. Nigel Honeyman spent four years working for New Holland demonstrating their combines and other harvesting machinery around the UK as well as working as an Area Sales Manager.

Trained as an agricultural engineer, Nigel began his relationship with New Holland in 1987. Today, in his new role, his main responsibilities include working closely with New Holland dealers providing on-going support and training. It also involves customer liaison and offering advice on various options on machines. He says, There is no such thing as an average day in the new job because the remit is so broad:

Another part of my job is to organise the operator training programme. For most farmers and contractors, harvest is a relatively short and fraught period and time is precious: Customers have made a big investment in their combines and we want to give them all the help we can to speed up harvesting. New Hollands operator training shows them how to use their machines to the very best advantage.

Nigel says hes taken up the role at an exciting time for combines: New Holland is now working on the transition to Tier IV, refreshing the ranges as they go.

The first to meet the new emission regulations will be the CX series of combines. The range will be consolidated and the new Tier IV technology will result in a boost in engine power. The greatest increase will be seen on the range-topping CX8090 which now boasts a maximum harvesting power of 490 hp (360 kW), an increase of 35 hp over the Tier III model. The first Tier IV models will be available from May next year.

New Hollands Marketing Manager Dick Spencer says Nigels extensive experience with New Holland and his industry knowledge will be very valuable as he takes up his new role:

Nigel has worked with New Holland as an Area Sales Manager, consultant and demonstrator for a long time so he knows the machines inside and out. He is well known to the customers and to the dealers. His knowledge and understanding of the machines will give New Holland a tremendous boost.

Next summer, another of Nigels tasks will be to organise the harvesting demonstrations. He says it is going to feel very different: Instead of sitting behind the controls, hell be running the programme.
