Yorkshire farmers son takes on new role
A Yorkshire farmers son has been appointed to help agricultural equipment dealers supply the most suitable tractors for the needs of their farming customers.
Phil Maw, who comes from a farming family and still lives in his home area near Pickering, North Yorkshire, has been appointed to the role of northern area manager by AgriArgo UK, the Landini and McCormick tractor distributor in Britain.
Mr Maw has previous experience of the Landini product range having started his career in agricultural engineering with Kirkbymoorside dealer J Wood & Son.Although Im familiar with a lot of the features, there have been many product changes and improvements since I was last involved with the tractors, he says. Ive been learning about the new transmissions that improve their working efficiency and the new cabs that make the drivers life more comfortable.
Phil Maw joins the AgriArgo UK team based at Harworth near Doncaster from a salesmans role in a business supplying dealers with an independent range of replacement parts. As a result, he already knows many of the dealers on his new patch, which extends from the Scottish border south to the M62, then through Derbyshire and Shropshire into north Wales.
Im really enjoying being involved with whole-goods again, helping demonstrate tractors and taking on the responsibility that comes from supporting dealers as they negotiate sales and finance, he says. The two separate dealer networks handle some very good tractors, covering everything from a 23hp compact to a 225hp arable machine.
AgriArgo UK general manager and sales director, Ray Spinks, said: Im sure well benefit from Phils youthful enthusiasm. His past experience working in a dealership and selling parts to dealers will stand him in good stead as he helping our own dealers supply tractors that meet our end customers needs.
