Finkley Down Farm Park set for re-build after fire

Farm's play barn and additional building burnt down following a large fire but planning has been approved to re-build.

BCM, specialists in rural property operating throughout Southern England, are delighted to announce that, along with Finkley Down Farm Park near Andover, have obtained planning approval for replacement buildings following a large fire which burnt down the farm’s play barn and damaged a further building.

The new buildings will be 997-sq.ft. and not only replace the lost play barn but will provide new toilet facilities and a greater level of indoor seating space. The scheme as a whole enables the farm to restore the lost play area and also carry on improving its facilities and visitor experience.

James Fraser of BCM comments; “After one of the wettest summers on record the new indoor seating and play space will be a welcome addition to the farm and will enable the farm to become a more all-weather experience for its visitors”.

Finkley Down Farm Park is packed with many activities to entertain children. They always have a host of animals to see and specially organised activities where children can touch, learn and interact with animals such as; ponies, pigs, goats, ducks, chinchillas, ferrets, chipmunks, tortoises and many more. Activities include slides, the Finkley fire station, a combine harvester and pedal go carts to name but a few.

Charles Waters of Finkley Down Farm Park said “ To get planning permission to be able to not only rebuild the much used play barn but to also extend its facilities was wonderful news. The farm is now closed for the winter but will reopen in March 2013 and we look forward to welcoming everyone next spring”.

Work will be starting within the next couple of weeks so the buildings and their new facilities will be operational for the 2013 season, watch this space.
