The Countess of Wessex opens new Wool Board offices

Staff and guests welcomed The Countess of Wessex as she officially opened the new British Wool Marketing Board¹ offices on Canal Road, Bradford yesterday 24th July.

Chairman, Malcolm Corbett was delighted to welcome the Countess of Wessex and provide a behind-the-scenes look at how wool is graded and selected for auction, “It was a tremendous day for all concerned and a great boost to raising the valuable role that wool plays not just in the local community but across the world.”

The Countess of Wessex was also introduced to the wider work of the British Wool Marketing Board as well as the global drive to promote wool through the Campaign for Wool².

Chief Executive Officer, Ian Hartley said, “It was a great day for Bradford especially for all those working not just for the Wool Board but in the industry right across Bradford.” He commented that The Countess of Wessex had shown interest in all aspects of the wool process throughout her visit”

Thanking all the invited guests and staff, Malcolm Corbett looked forward to the Countess of Wessex supporting the Campaign for Wool and saw it as a great opportunity for promoting wool across the globe.

The Countess of Wessex also visited several manufacturers working at the heart of the wool industry in Bradford: Haworth Scouring, Bulmer & Lumb Group Limited and Westex Carpets.
