Openfield is Britain’s largest farmer owned arable crop marketing business owned by 2,700 UK farmer members, transacting circa 4.5m tonnes of arable crops annually aimed at returning value to farmer members through building unique supply chains with end consumers.

Given this clear strategic aim, we are disappointed not to be reappointed to market grain on behalf of Camgrain after 10 years of successful collaboration between two farmer-owned businesses. Over this period we believe that we have made a significant contribution to the development and growth of the Camgrain business in the following areas:

  • Marketed grain efficiently and effectively, representing and promoting Camgrain in the market place;
  • Invested significantly in storage space at Camgrain;
  • Introduced the Kettering Project concept and the Northamptonshire farmer group to Camgrain;
  • Actively supported and promoted the merger with Arable Crop Storage;
  • Intimately involved in the recruitment of all new members for Camgrain Stores Ltd and Camgrain Ltd; and
  • Provided effective back office support in the accounting and payment of pool proceeds to Camgrain members;

We have been proud to support the Camgrain members in the successful development and growth of their business and we remain firmly committed to collaborative marketing which we believe maximises value return to the farmer member and delivers secure and sustainable supply routes to market in collaboration with our consumer customers.

We will continue to work with like-minded businesses, farmers and central storage partners to promote British agriculture both in the UK and overseas.
