PGRO advised SL567A should be used at the first signs of Downy Mildew, particularly if the crop has just commenced flowering. Up to two applications at a rate of 0.16 l/ha is permitted, with the latest time of application 14-days prior to harvest.

In its latest Crop Update the PGRO also advised to always apply SL567A at full rate and in mixture with fungicides with an alternative mode of action, to prevent resistance of Bean Downy Mildew to the active ingredient, metalaxyl-M. Suitable mixture partners highlighted included Alto Elite (cyproconazole + chlorothalonil) or Amistar (azoxystrobin). It was noted that where mixture products are used, growers must take account of individual product’s harvest interval periods.

Growers are advised that they should be in possession of a copy of the SL567A EAMU before use, reference 0917/13 and available to download from the CRD website: www.pesticides.gov.uk
