TV presenter and businesswoman, Sarah Beeny, is the latest celebrity to team up with the Mushroom Bureau to front their ‘Just Add Mushrooms’ campaign, an integrated promotional campaign aimed at encouraging people to cook more with fresh mushrooms.

The popular TV personality, property developer, and mum of four will be the second celebrity to don the ‘Just Add Mushrooms’ chef’s hat in print and digital ads, following on from the campaign launch with Nadia Sawalha last October. The ads will be appearing across the UK and Ireland from today.

Sarah’s involvement is part of a three year promotional push representing an investment of over £2.4m, with 50% of funding supplied by members of the Mushrooms Bureau and 50% coming from the EU.

As part of the campaign Sarah has selected three of her family’s favourite mushroom meal ideas, which showcase the versatility of fresh mushrooms and some great flavor combinations for everyone to try out.

The three delicious dishes include creamy mushroom and chicken spaghetti, which offers a tasty alternative to a classic spaghetti bolognaise, mouthwatering flat mushrooms stuffed with sausage meat and garlic butter and finally, a hearty chestnut mushroom, spinach & blue cheese lasagne, all ready to hit the table in 45 minutes or less.

As well as being low in fat and calories, mushrooms also have a whole host of health benefits, with roughly four mushrooms (80g) counting as one of your 5 a day fruit and vegetable portions. As a natural source of vitamin B₅, which helps reduce tiredness and fatigue, mushrooms are an easy way of adding flavor and nutrition to a wide range of meals.

Sarah said: “As a busy working mum of four with a passion for wholesome, home-cooked food, I’m a huge fan of mushrooms as they are a brilliant way of adding nutrition and flavour to my family’s favourite meals.

“Cooking for six can be quite a challenge at times, but mushrooms are easy to prepare and cook, great value for money and are one of my essential fridge items for a quick mid-week dinner, better still, they count towards your 5-a-day!”

Stephen Allen of the Mushroom Bureau added: “We are thrilled to have Sarah on board with the Just Add Mushrooms campaign as she is someone that I think all busy parents can really relate to.

With a challenging work schedule and four hungry boys to feed, Sarah knows how hard it can be to find quick, tasty and healthy meal ideas that the whole family will enjoy, but the recipes she has shared with us demonstrate what a perfect ingredient mushrooms are for helping people achieve this.”
