UK Poultry Vets Seminar calls for closer cooperation
On the 23/24th of September Joice and Hill hosted a seminar for UK Poultry Vets at their recently expanded UK hatchery in Peterborough.
The majority of UK poultry veterinary practices were represented at the event which began on Monday evening with a pre-seminar dinner attended by Mathieu Lemarie, Nico Buddiger, Matt McCready and Richard Houlbrooke from Hybrid Turkeys and Caringa. Many of the attending vets also work with UK turkey and broiler growers and integrators
On Tuesday Joice and Hill organised a tour of the hatchery facilities, followed by presentations by Frans van Sambeek, who covered ISA research and development strategy and by Bart Stokvis on current veterinary issues in the Netherlands. Both sessions provoked valuable wide ranging discussions.
Concluding the debate, it was agreed that it is highly beneficial for egg producers to co-operate closely in the field and work in conjunction with their feed supplier and their veterinary advisor. The Joice and Hill team agreed that closer veterinary involvement in mutual clients gives their customers the best chance of releasing the high genetic potential of ISA’s products and investment in balanced breeding and research.
