Ploughing to Sweden on Goodyear

On the 9th and 10th of October the British National Ploughing Championships took place at Grange de Lings near Lincoln.

Leading farm tyre specialists, Goodyear, are the title sponsor for the ploughing event and were present in Lincoln supporting competitors running on Goodyear tyres.

The winners of both the Reversible Final and the Conventional Final were using Goodyear Optitrac tyres.

The Reversible Final saw Colin Bowen from Clun, Craven Arms in Shropshire win the plough-off by a clear 19 points. Colin retains the title for the second year in a row.

Former World Ploughing Champion, John Hill, from Hoylandswaine in Sheffield took the top spot in the Conventional Final plough-off. John is a long standing customer of Goodyear tyres having used them for many years during his ploughing success. John took the lead with an impressive 21 points.

Both Colin and John will represent England in the 2011 World Ploughing Contest to be held in Sweden.

At the event Goodyear were also encouraging visitors to join their popular AGRI Club. The club was set up to encourage the sharing of best practice and industry news throughout the UKs farming community.

Free to join, the Goodyear AGRI Club offers members regular e-mail and postal newsletters as well as tyre offers and opportunities to join the Goodyear team at farming shows across the country.

They have been encouraging farmers to join the club at farming shows throughout the year reaching 725 members at the Ploughing Championships. Both Colin and John are both members of the high profile club, benefiting from tyre offers and discounts.

Ken Chappell MBE, Executive Director of the Society of Ploughmen drew the annual AGRI Club competition to win 2000 worth of Goodyear Farm Tyres. The lucky winner was James Steel who joined the AGRI club this year at the Great Yorkshire Show. James farms at Middleton Farm, Milnathorty, Kinross.

We have had yet another successful year at the Ploughing Championships and we are very proud to have both Colin and John ploughing on Goodyear said Phil Stanton, Goodyear Farm Tyre Manager.

We were also pleased to have drawn our annual competition to win 2000 worth of our farm tyres and look forward to equipping James tractor with Goodyear tyres concluded Phil.
