This activity will help us engage with younger consumers; to show them just how easy it is to cook with potatoes and demonstrate their natural healthy benefits. We will also throw down the gauntlet to see just how much time they too can save by cooking with potatoes and give them the inspiration they need through recipe ideas and cooking tips to increase their potato-based meal repertoire.

Dawn is already regularly updating her fans on her progress and sharing hints, tips and exciting new recipe ideas, while posting her weekly video diaries online at These, and the results of the month long activity, will also be available for industry to use in their own marketing literature and on websites.

Helped by top nutritionist Sian Porter, Dawn has a varied selection of 28 potato recipes to choose from that are suitable for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and a range of healthy snacks. The recipes and the entire plan are available on Potato Councils website, with supporting activity featuring on Facebook and Twitter.

Helen continued: The activity follows hot on the heels of our Summer roadshow, which has been a huge success in promoting the versatility of the new potato crop. Initial research shows that the promotional activity undertaken across the nine shopping centre locations resulted in a surge of traffic to In fact, we recorded a 240 percent increase to our salad recipe pages alone.

While potatoes are well liked, other carbohydrates are often viewed as faster, easier and healthier. This time-saving, healthy eating plan aims to help consumers re-evaluate their perceptions and demonstrate that potatoes can be enjoyed quickly and easily, every day of the week.
