Joseph Heler celebrates outstanding award season

Joseph Heler Cheese, are celebrating one of their most successful years and award seasons to date this month.

The Cheshire-based creamery have achieved accolades in some of the most sought-after dairy awards the country has to offer, including eight gold awards at the International Cheese Awards at Nantwich Show and a silver in the highly regarded Danisco GP at the Great Yorkshire Show. These award wins prove that key industry figures and cheese connoisseurs are certainly recognising the potential that this family run business has to offer.

The successes began for the Nantwich-based cheese makers at the Cheshire Show where they scooped up a plethora of awards – and not just for their cheese. Heler showcased only three of their dairy cow herd but won an incredible ten awards between them including best Group of Three Female Cows. Meanwhile, their cheese picked up an array of awards: their White Cheshire, Red Leicester and Double Gloucester all received silver medals, whilst their unique Blue Cheshire and traditional Coloured Cheshire celebrated bronze.

Building on this success Joseph Heler celebrated a hat-trick of outstanding results for their Medium and Mature Cheddars and Red Leicester at the UK’s premier agricultural event, The Great Yorkshire Show. Their Medium Cheddar received the highest accolade with a first prize result, whilst the Mature Cheddar celebrated with a second in its category, the Danisco GP class, where cheese makers exhibit their finest cheese. The wins did not stop there however and Heler’s Red Leicester built on its Cheshire Show success by winning silver.

More recently, at the world-famous International Cheese Awards held on Joseph Heler’s doorstep in Nantwich, the UK’s largest regional cheese maker took home multiple awards including eight gold medals. Gold medals were not only awarded to their traditional artisan cheese such as, Cheshire, Mature Cheddar, Caerphilly and Mature Red Leicester but also to their most revolutionary cheese to date: Joseph Heler’s Red Leicester with Geeta’s Authentic Indian Chutney.

Nantwich Show also brought continued success for Joseph Heler Farms for the same 3 pedigree cows celebrating a clean sweep of winners, affectionately known as Clarissa, Roz and Lisette, who brought home silverware from the Cheshire Show collecting a further 9 awards.

Mike Heler, Managing Director of Joseph Heler, comments, ‘Our award wins is a clear indicator as to how much our business has developed. We are working tirelessly to continue to build upon this success and transport our business into the future with cutting-edge innovative cheese as well as producing traditional artisan cheeses that deliver on quality and taste.
