Red Tractor, the leading quality food assurance mark in the UK, is launching a new initiative to engage and educate consumers on the values behind Red Tractor .

The Red Tractor 4 Wheels Manifesto is a new initiative committed to mobilising people to get behind Red Tractor and buy Red Tractor assured food and drink. Already supported by leading companies in the food industry, the manifesto will encourage the nation to pledge support for increased transparency, safety, animal welfare and environmental protection in food production.

Latest You Gov research released, which marks the launch, shows that young people are driving the trend for higher standards in food production. Almost one in three, 18 24 year olds (31%) say the Red Tractor mark placed on pack is an important factor when choosing which foods they buy.

18 24 year olds are also significantly more likely to recognise these types of logo than the population generally. For instance, two thirds (62%) of 18 24 year olds are aware of the Red Tractor compared with the UK population national average of 55%.

David Clarke, CEO, Red Tractor says; Its exciting that the next generation is demanding clear and simple communication to ensure their food is produced to good standards of animal welfare, safety, quality and origin. Were launching our 4 wheels manifesto at the Westminster Youth Fete to encourage everybody, regardless of age, to get behind Red Tractor and support good standards and assurance in food production.

Baroness Hayman, Lord Speaker of the House of Lords will sign a giant tractor wheel, which will then travel around the UK visiting towns and cities nationwide. People up and down the country will be encouraged to sign the wheel and pledge their support for Red Tractor. Supporters can also get involved online, through social media activities and online sign-up at www.redtractor.org.uk/.
