The series is split into three programmes focusing on vegetables, cereals and fruit. The vegetable programme featuring Produce World will be the first to air, launching the series on Wednesday 11th September on BBC Two at 8pm.

The programme has been produced to celebrate British agriculture, exploring exactly what goes into growing and supplying the nation’s food. Presented by Gregg Wallace and Philippa Forrester the series is following three farmers – including Produce World’s Director of Agriculture Andrew Burgess.

The BBC has had access to Produce World’s complete business operation over the past year, visiting the company’s sites and meeting with the teams. The crew, alongside Gregg and Philippa, followed the story of vegetables throughout the year – from sowing the first seeds to putting the carrots to bed in the winter.

The vegetable programme also explores the challenges faced by Produce World in 2012 and 2013 caused by the weather, highlighting just how hard the team have to work to get the crops in and out of the ground.

Andrew Burgess Director of Agriculture at Produce World said: “We are truly passionate about growing and supplying the best quality fresh vegetables and we hope that the Harvest series will help to educate consumers on what goes into getting the produce from field to fork. It was an enjoyable experience working with the crew throughout this whole process and we hope our contribution will help to raise the profile of British farming.”
