It is a well known fact that the majority of the female population in Britain tries to lose weight for the summer season. The thought of unveiling yourself on the beach or simply wearing next to nothing in comparison to those winter layers can be a scary thought so if doctors told you that eating crisps could help you look fantastic in a bikini you wouldn’t believe a word they said. However a new crisp snack has been developed to help you do just that – Perry Court Farm Apple Crisps.

Created by 23 year old graduate Charlie Fermor, Apple Crisps are made using nothing more than home grown apples that are hand picked on Charlie’s family farm in Kent. Once picked the apples are simply washed, cored, sliced, dried and packaged to create the ultimate healthy snack.

If you enter ‘lose weight for summer’ into Google a shocking 19 million plus results are loaded onto your screen yet most of the advice is either to starve yourself on the latest fad diet or is otherwise just unpractical within a busy lifestyle. What’s more with various weight loss pills, membership programmes and celebrity fitness DVD’s losing weight can seen a chore.

With that in mind by replacing a standard packet of crisps with Perry Court Apple Crisps weight loss can improve dramatically (as part of a calorie controlled diet). There are just 76 calories per packet and the natural fibre from the apples helps by filling the stomach quicker, limiting the amount of food you eat. Furthermore lower sodium intake helps flush excess water weight from the body whilst the vitamins can increase your vitality keeping you active throughout the day and even your skin, hair and nails will benefit.apple_crisps

Additionally, Perry Court Apple Crisps are the only naturally and environmentally friendly produced fruit crisps on the UK market as they are dried by using nothing other than the earth’s natural air. Thanks to this process they are able to maintain 99% of their original goodness and beneficial nutrients thus being classified as one of your five a day.

Creator of Apple Crisps, Charlie Fermor, commented: “I think weight loss and perfecting your image has become more of an obsession over the years yet I don’t know many people who don’t want to feel and look good. My aim was to create a healthy snack that could replace standard crisps that at the same time appeal to people of all ages. Apple Crisps are the perfect answer. They not only satisfy your sweet tooth cravings they also provide an easy way to lead a healthy balanced diet.”

What we think:

Our sample packets arrived this morning at 9:30am. They were gone by 9:35.

The sales team here at Farming Monthly National were very enthusiastic test subjects as, being all women at this point in time, they are always watching their figures, discussing how many calories are in this and that, wanting to eat more healthily yet always snacking throughout the day on crisps and such.

There is even a set of digital scales next to the photocopier that they religiously climb aboard throughout the week. Now I am letting all the secrets out.
I’ll probably be in trouble for this.

To them (and indeed to us men) these Apple Crisps from Perry Court Farm are just the ticket. They have the appearance and initial consistency of any “normal” ridged crisps but after you start crunching on them, the zingy apple flavour really takes over.

At first, it’s a bit confusing to the brain – having the exact appearance of crisps you expect a “savoury” experience. This is clearly not the case, though, after the initial surprise, you just have to reach for another. Then another.

It’s like another famous brand where – once you pop – you just can’t stop!
What a great idea for a snack product - 100% natural, low fat, nothing added – nothing taken away and providing 1 portion of your 5-a-day per bag!

I can imagine kids who often avoid any kind of “fresh” produce like the plague loving these – after all…they are crisps aren’t they? Pop a bag in the lunchbox mums!

So, you can tell that we loved them.

The only downside at the moment is actually getting your hands on them. Currently only available  “down south” at certain retailers and farm shops, Apple Crisps will be on sale soon in branches of Holland & Barratt and National Trust Cafes.

Ordering online from their website is currently your best bet – and I can imagine an order being made from the office next door in the very near future.

Visit www.perrycourt.com for more information or to place your order.
