Description
Vintage tractor displays at South-West's largest festival of transport
The Gloucestershire Steam & Vintage Extravaganza makes a welcome return to
Cotswold Airport (previously known as Kemble Airfield) this year. From Friday
6th - Sunday 8th August 2010 the extravaganza will see through its 36th year,
raising money for The Cobalt Appeal Fund, Diabetes UK & The County Air
Ambulance.
The show was originally conceived for steam enthusiasts, but the range of
exhibits has grown year on year. It now boasts a huge array of vintage
transport, from buses & coaches, commercial vehicles, classic cars and
motorcycles through to military vehicles, tractors, aircraft, engines and
historic caravans. A live action arena will be an integral part of the show with
interactive demonstrations taking place every day, and the popular vintage fun
fair is sure to keep the children amused. Hundreds of curiosity stalls should
also keep visitors engrossed for hours with displays of Victorian memorabilia
ranging from antique sewing and knitting machines and model dolls houses to
vintage garden tools and 1940s - 1950's home wares.
This year more than 150 vintage tractors will be displayed dating from the 1920s
to the 1980s showcasing the engineering development, diversity of design and
colours of these powerful machines. Manufacturers represented include David
Brown, Massey Ferguson, Nuffield, Zetor, Leyland, Farmall and Field Marshall to
name but a few. The now infamous 'Dancing Tractors' will also return to the
main arena, which is a fun display not to be missed! There will also be tractors
at work in the working arena display demonstrating their capabilities.
Clive Osborne director of the tractors section Gloucestershire Steam & Vintage
Extravaganza said "Each year the show just gets better and better and this one
will be no exception. There will be a few surprises in the tractor display which
will be of great interest to enthusiasts and general visitors alike".
A free vintage bus service will be operating to and from Kemble railway station
throughout the show to connect with selected First Great Western Trains. A
courtesy bus will also shuttle guests to the Bristol Aero collection. Formed in
1990, this collection records 95 years of Bristol aviation and space heritage.
Based in a large wartime hangar, the collection includes aircraft, helicopters,
missiles and engines. For details of the bus schedule, please refer to the
website www.steamextravaganza.com.
Buses will depart from outside the main show
entrance.

Description
Cotswold Airport Showground
Cotswold Airport hosts a variety of events ranging from national events such as the Mobility Road Show to its own respected and now famous Kemble Air Day.
From early days the owners recognised the fact that Cotswold Airport offered unique facilities located in an area with good road and rail links. An area on the airport was set aside as a showground, which offers up to about 65 acres of well maintained flat grass and tarmac areas, the showground is suitable for not only all types of events but for motoring activities and allows event organisers the opportunity to set up courses and test areas.
Completely surrounded by a security fence and with six gateways offering road access and laid out in such a way that aircraft can access the ground from the operational side, the showground can be laid out so that the event traffic management plan will satisfy the local authorities and cause very little impact on the local road systems.
Cotswold Airport has a main line station at Kemble allowing access direct from London, and is within an hours drive from the Bristol, Birmingham, and London areas. Giving organisers the opportunity to market their event over a wide area.
Some of the events that occur and have been at Cotswold Airport are;
The Mobility Road show.
The Gloucestershire Steam Extravaganza
The Military Vehicle Trust National Show.
Kemble Air Day,
Kemble Open Day.
The Great Vintage Flying Weekend,
The PFA Rally.
The Festival of Free Flight.
The Didmarton Bluegrass Festival.
Cancer Research UK Race For Life.
Various launch days.
Corporate entertainment events.
Motoring events including training and practice days.
Music festivals and concerts.
As Cotswold Airport was a major, second- world war airfield, the buildings and layout also offer unique filming and photo shoot opportunities and has hosted many film units and companies. As a working airport the backdrop and activities can also be incorporated into productions and over the years Kemble has seen many stars and major TV and Film productions.
The main runway at Cotswold Airport is over 2km long and offers the opportunity to test racing cars of all classes, most of the major F1 teams use Cotswold Airport for this purpose, and Cotswold Airport has over the years seen many of the famous and up and coming F1 drivers doing what they do best. The use of the main runway has to be incorporated into the usual operational activities and is restricted and controlled.
Other facilities at Cotswold Airport offer the opportunity to hold a corporate event with unique activities and services on site. Major companies have taken advantage of these facilities and have used and use Cotswold Airport on a regular basis.
All events at Cotswold Airport are managed by Fosse Consultants who have had years of experience in events of all types at various locations throughout the UK, experienced staff are at hand to advise and assist organisers in ensuring their event is planned and implemented to a high standard.
Based at the airport they are on hand throughout all stages of your event, with the ability to source all your logistical needs this makes having an event at Kemble easy to organise.
