Description

Hotline and on-line ticket registration (www.potato.org.uk/bp2009) are now live for British Potato 2009, the place where the entire potato industry does business.

The biennial event, organised by Potato Council and sponsored by Branston, is expected to pull around 5,000 growers, processors, retailers, researchers, specialists and consultants through its doors. Taking place on November 25 and 26 at the Yorkshire Event Centre, Harrogate, it is the opportunity to discuss the issues that matter and seek out new information.

Advanced ticket offers have been introduced to ensure potato businesses can fast-track themselves into the popular event. The cost to attend the key potato event in the calendar is just £14 for the first ticket purchased. Subsequent tickets booked by the same person in a single transaction will be charged at £8 each, a great ticket saving of over 40%.
“There’s a lot to get through and BP2009 is a day worth investing in to evaluate the opportunities facing your industry,” says Rob Clayton, Potato Council head of communications. “The ticket deal means you can attend both days of the busy event and save. “What’s more, booking in advance means you can fast-track yourself past the inevitable registration queues, giving you more time at the event to do business.”

The ticket deal means you can travel up with friends, family or staff and discuss farming issues on the way, share the fuel and attend the event for under £10 each. Every company or piece of machinery a potato grower would wish to see will be among the 120 of Europe's leading companies exhibiting.

Highlights on the Potato Council stand include the latest research-related news and developments from the country’s leading authorities at the BP2009 technical seminars, organised by Potato Council. From a smarter approach to agronomy, through progress on major disease threats to cutting energy losses in store, these are the main issues growers face and the key areas of research that can benefit and make the job of growing potatoes more profitable.

BP2009 is a social occasion too. The industry dinner on November 25 is the ideal place to catch up with existing contacts, meet new colleagues and enjoy the after-dinner speaker. The dinner costs £57.50 and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. “The event dinner is always oversubscribed so it’s essential to book well in advance,” adds Dr Clayton.

Online ticket registration is now live at www.potato.org.uk/bp2009 or call the ticket hotline on 0844 5572808. Advanced registration has the advantage of fewer delays on entry to the event. You’ll be sent personalised badges that will ensure you’re fast-tracked on arrival. This means less time hanging around in queues, which helps you make the most of your day.

Description

If you're entertaining an ex-President, things have to be right so when Harrogate's new Yorkshire Event Centre was praised as 'a superb venue' at the Yorkshire International Business Convention, where Bill Clinton was headline speaker, it was more than gratifying.

However, YEC isn't restricted to providing a forum for the world's most charismatic raconteurs. It's also an ideal venue for public exhibitions, conferences, trade fairs, sporting occasions and events of all kinds.

Though very different in nature - and all requiring an individual, bespoke approach - every event has several common requirements: faultless organisation, exceptional facilities and in-depth assistance with marketing and planning. YEC has quickly built a reputation for the excellence of its service in these three key areas.

Being located approximately half way between London and Edinburgh, and at an east-west midpoint, YEC is geographically suited for national events.

This is facilitated by fast, easy access to major road and rail links, and our proximity to Leeds/Bradford International Airport.

Clearly, for exhibitors, the local audience is a crucial consideration ... and with 6 million people living within an hour's drive, in the 'golden triangle' of Leeds, York and Harrogate, you've a huge potential visitor base to draw on.
Additionally, the many spa town attractions of Harrogate are a magnet for approximately 3 million visitors each year, so there's more potential business for you right on YEC's doorstep.
